I bought this game on itch.io when it first came out, and I've done some of the DLC content, but when discussing it with a friend, I was hoping I could look back on it only to find I no longer have the option to point at the announcer and my DLC saves are giving me errors ;n;
Hmmm! I googled the error message and it's telling me that it may have something to do with incompatible save data between devices? I'm really not sure why this would be affecting you though since an itchio version of the game wouldn't use cloud saving like steam might.

If you'd like to look into it more yourself, a good search term would be "Renpy ImportError No module named Revertable" <- that's the name of the program the game was made in and then the name of the error message
I actually spent the night troubleshooting and what I found out was I had the game installed twice, so my saves were on both the old version (pre-DLC) and the updated version, and I had just launched the wrong version of the game, which made the save data incompatible with the version I was running
Hihi :) I don't know if you'll see this since you're busy on your new game, but I just wanted to comment on how much I've surprisingly enjoyed your games. I'm a very sensitive person to all things horror and I thought I'd hate BTD, but something just clicked with it. Maybe some unresolved childhood trauma /lh, but Strade's route led me down a rabbit hole I never expected to fall down. The way you write these characters is genuienly so interesting and captivating, no matter how depraved some of them may be I just sit and stare at how all these characters are, their motives, how they justify what they do--it's something I never previously enjoyed, but you managed to make it immersive and something that I've been clinging onto ever since I found it. The characters are all complex in some way, and the new game you're working on has me so genuienly excited to see what more we can see from Strade and Ren in the YKMET release.
This is one of the few games that pushed me to getting a laptop that can support games, and I'm really glad I did. I haven't finished all of them, probably not even close to understanding the whole story presented to us with all the characters, lol, but I am absolutely looking forward to even more. Good luck on the development of YKMET, words alone can't express how excited I am to see this game come back to life, and I hope it get's the recognition it deserves. (P.S., if you have any availible slots for beta testers when the new game is ready for testing I'd love to apply if wanted <3)

oh and yeah I have a question... I always was wondered, what happens if during the auction sale, we start threatening the announcer? I mean, we start hinting to him that we know his name, we know his identity, and we know his past. Will he kill us on the spot, or will he throw us into a cell and then interrogate us? I think he would be surprised to know that young student know his origin XD

hi gatobob!! im, uh not sure if this is the right place to write something like this, but there isnt much other choices so.,, ill understand if u ignore this hsjsk,, but i just wanted to share the huge appreciation i have for all of your work and the fact u didn’t give up even after everything you’ve went through. it’s been really hard for me lately because i trusted people i shouldn’t have and ended up losing everyone and everything i cared about. it got to me so terribly i tried to take my life from the constant panic attacks i would have. i had nobody, so i tried to find something that could bring joy in my life again yet failed multiple times. i really convinced myself there will never be anything that’d make me feel happy again and that it all was pointless. i stumbled across your game just a few months ago when i was scrolling through tik tok and after playing both parts of btd and tpof i got so immersed into the plot and characters that i swear i felt alive again. i got especially attracted to ren if being honest haha,,, for some reason i even saw myself in him because of the fact that he loved someone who never really loved him at all and only abused him. i mean hshajakj i know that he isn’t such an innocent character either, but his backstory and his way of thinking is what made it hit so close to home. i used to be this way too when i was a kid and lived in an abusive household, and truly believed that they care about me no matter how much they hurt me.
btd was the first thing in years that made me feel something. i found out that ur remaking the first game and i swore that no matter what happens i wont do anything bad to myself just so i could witness the release of ykmet and be able to play it. even if its not free, ill save up my money just so i could buy it then!! im already saving up so i could get a subscription on your patreon and it still wouldnt be enough to show how grateful i am. i missed that feeling so much, i missed having something to live for. i spend my last night drawing a bunch of ren sketches and even making an animation w him, it was really fun!! i look at him and he just makes me so happy u have no idea haha <3 all of that made me realize how much of an impact your games made on my life, even though u dont know me at all. i found out about your story and how you went through an awful betrayal from your close people a few years ago and it made me want to just say thank you. gato, you’re such a strong and wonderful person and i hope u know how much your hard work means to some people. a few months ago i was a terribly ruined 18 year old girl that wanted to leave this world so badly and things wouldn't have changed if it wasnt for you. i really wish i could talk to you at least for some time, though i understand that you probably wouldn’t want to and thats okay. i’m looking up to u a lot and i hope one day i’ll finally get better. u didn’t give up, so i won’t either!! ₍ᐢ. ̫.ᐢ₎

I know exactly what it feels like to have too many things go wrong, and to believe to your core that things will keep going wrong- that all there is in the future is pain.
When the thought of killing myself was the only thing that made me feel better, I talked to people. I told the few people I trusted and I sought out a therapist as well. It didn't instantly fix everything of course but it showed me the path to recovery and helped me believe in a future where things are better.
I'm so glad you've talked to me today! You took a chance on communicating with someone and that's EXACTLY the right thing to do. Please keep taking chances. Go places with people, attend events- I know that taking chances after being hurt so badly is extremely hard, but if you keep checking the shore, you never know what the tide may bring in.
One last thing too- be your own friend if you can. For me, this took a lot of work and practice. I used to be abusive to myself in my own head. My therapist taught me to argue with myself in my head and challenge every mean thought. It was exhausting. But it gets easier if you keep doing it. Once you treat yourself like a friend, it's not so scary to be alone. Behind closed doors you can find love instead of fear.

um olá gatobob :) Joguei os três jogos BTD 1 e BTD 2 claro TPOF, sou brasileiro e desculpem se minha escrita estiver ruim estou usando um tradutor haha. Bom eu queria dar minha opinião sobre o jogo BTD 1 e no começo fiquei bem desconfortável e tenso com a narrativa do jogo, mas como um amante de terror fiquei simplesmente impressionado e admirado pelo seu trabalho :D as artes da rota strade são muito bonitas e interessantes, as mecânicas de jogo como sanity e life eram muito revolucionárias para as visual novels naquela época. minha rota favorita é strade e sano porque elas são as mais fodas e violentas, o objetivo do jogo é causar desconforto e agonia no jogador! Tenho que dizer que o papel é cumprido :) minha nota é 9/10 Agora minha opinião sobre BTD 2, achei as outras rotas fracas na narrativa mas a rota de Ren e Lawrence é a mais incrível e bem escrita. Na rota do Ren ele é muito chato e irritante com essa conversa de "vou ser o Strade 2.0" os finais são interessantes e as cenas de violência me deram tensão, outra coisa que eu amei na rota onde o jogador pode torturar o Ren! caramba foi ótimo. A rota do Lawrence foi incrível e muito bem escrita eu tenho que te dar esse crédito :) a personalidade e o ambiente da rota dele são diferentes, o lago é misterioso e muito macabro mas ajuda com a história do BTD? Minha nota para esse jogo é 7/10 por último TPOF, esse jogo é incrível em termos de terror e desconforto! as artes e ângulos são lindos e perfeitos😍 as novas mecânicas são melhoradas e boas. Na minha opinião, a rota do Derek é cheia de adrenalina e ação:) ele está muito bonito nos ângulos de arte e eu gosto da narrativa e do ambiente de sobrevivência no meio do deserto, a história principal me fez chorar:( A rota da Celia é bem escrita, o ambiente trancando naquele lugar abandonado dá uma atmosfera opressiva e desconhecida, também gostei que pode ter a rota secreta do Ren haha e a narrativa da rota da Celia é simples mas funciona muito bem! A rota do Manson é tensa, o ambiente da floresta junto com os sons dão vida ao suspense. Essa vibe de caçador e presa funciona na narrativa dessa rota! agora a rota mais nojenta e ótima do terror a DLC fox. Fazia tempo que não sentia nojo, agonia e desconforto extremo nessa rota! as descrições da tortura são bem descritivas......a cena do olho era podre e nojenta :/ mas eu estava imersa nessa narrativa dos programas macabros da Fox e seu público doente nas telas. o ambiente da sala escura com as telas brancas são perfeitos para o terror

Lots of stuff in the old BTD games will be changed to fit my narratives better in YKMET as well. I know 'retcon' isn't the most popular thing but my personal motto is that 'improvement is better than consistency' haha!

I don't really want to hammer out any details of my work. To me, the joy in art is every unique interpretation creating something new. I think it should be a joint process between artist and viewer where both contribute imagination.
Accuracy means very little to me and I am comfortable with my characters being interpreted in any way that gives people joy.

I'm very lucky to have enough people legitimately supporting my work on my Patreon [ and buying my games/merch ] that I can survive and keep making things. The economy is really rough right now, and if people who can't afford to support me financially get some joy from seeing my leaked patreon content, then I suppose it's really not so bad.

It won't delve much into the TPOF stuff, and it won't involve Lawrence at all. It's more like just an expanded version of Strade's original route. Ren does get more screentime in it though :)

Yes, I plan to put up the new game on Steam :) I don't really plan for an 'early access' phase though. I prefer the old fashioned way of going through proper beta testing in semi-private and then releasing a complete game. Hi! Love your work! Just today I purchased the game, I use Mac (MacBook air 😭) and it seems it doesn't let me open the game, even when I follow the advice provided in the purchase page it still won't open
I could not really stomach the other games from this developer but Price of Flesh reminds me more of a survival horror and the different routes are entertainingly different. It is one of the few games that I played through a lot of times to get all endings (not all achievements though) and I definitely recommend it to people that like survival horror and can cope with the trigger warnings.

I'll literally do anything atp just to see an After Story with Ren/Fox like a dating sim or something. I just wanna see a whole game literally just about dating or at least being friends with Ren/Fox. Nothing more. It's all I ask for..🙏🙏
I love him so much istg. and all that aside I genuinely didn't expect him to do a major 360 like that. I love his character, he's so well designed and well written!!! Even tho he did something fucked up, ain't gonna stop me from lovin his character. From BTD1 I saw him and immediately loved his character, then I was super overjoyed when I heard he had his own route in BTD2 then he returns in TPOF with his own route again!! My excitement-energy was so much that it almost created another sun. Ren is so real and so me I LOVE HIM!!!
I love this game so much however My game crashes a lot even though I have plenty of space (I have an updated device) ;-; it took forever to get the dlc but now anytime i do a full route and save and close my game for the day and go back to check my photos from ren (like his bunker and stuff) they're gone so I have to keep replying it and it continues to crash 😭
HELP i can't play the DLC. Like i have the little fox taking his hat off on the collections screen, and i have the option to point the annoncer but after their is nothing like "beg him" or something like that. I have done the achievement CONTROL but idk i still can't go with the annoncer :(
As long as you have the latest version of the game, you can access it by getting the 'CONTROL' achievement. To do that, you have to find the hidden note in Celia's desk- still a bit of a challenge because you won't see it unless you're drunk enough. You'll lose your sanity trying to get drunk enough if you don't have some ginger ale as well.
Is 1.2.8 the latest version because it's the one I have and I've tried that soo many times do you know how drunk I have to be or if I need to wait to a certain time like after she gives me the sandwich or does it not matter because I feel like I've tried everything😢
1.2.8 is the latest one, yep! You can probably find a guide to follow if you look up how to get the Control achievement that will tell you how to do it step by step. You need to drink like 5 times or so, it's only possible when she's gone for a long time. You'll know you have the achievement if there's a little animated Fox taking his hat off on the collections screen. Once you have it, you can just start a new game and there will be a new option to go with him at the auction.
do you know where the save files are located for a non-steam version of the game?, I'm having an issue where achievements from other versions are getting unlocked as soon as I open the game on steam and I wanted to start from scratch
They should be in something like [ %APPDATA%/RenPy/save_directory ] for windows or [ ~/Library/RenPy/save_directory ] for mac.
Save files are different from persistent data though. I think they're held in the same place, but persistent data is what hold achievement and overall game progress.
One way to get rid of them for sure would be to duplicate and back up your whole game folder, then go into the actual game and use the big red 'delete all progress' button on the collections page. That button wipes out all save files and persistent data so you can start from scratch.
Finally figured it out, very hard to find when it was under the the name The Hunt, I'm guessing an old name or something because that was the only file that appeared after I launched the game, deleted that whole folder, and everything in the saves for the steam version and used an achievement locker for steam and it all finally worked
when i downloaded the file on my windows it showed the right file of which i needed for my apple computer; '.app' file. When i downloaded it onto my apple computer it says i dont have the right file. Which is fine since i am able to play on windows, i was just wondering why it doesn't show for my apple computer. It may just very well be my own computer, Im not sure.
that is a-okay! im just glad i was able to get it on at least one screen to play it on! nether am i the best with computers haha. thank you, i really like the game so far! thanks again! <3

Sorry for the late reply- I was out for a bit! The genital mutilation warning is pretty mild. It's only text, and pretty short. No pics and definitely no animations!

The way you write these characters is genuienly so interesting and captivating, no matter how depraved some of them may be I just sit and stare at how all these characters are, their motives, how they justify what they do--it's something I never previously enjoyed, but you managed to make it immersive and something that I've been clinging onto ever since I found it. The characters are all complex in some way, and the new game you're working on has me so genuienly excited to see what more we can see from Strade and Ren in the YKMET release.
This is one of the few games that pushed me to getting a laptop that can support games, and I'm really glad I did. I haven't finished all of them, probably not even close to understanding the whole story presented to us with all the characters, lol, but I am absolutely looking forward to even more. Good luck on the development of YKMET, words alone can't express how excited I am to see this game come back to life, and I hope it get's the recognition it deserves.

hi gatobob!! im, uh not sure if this is the right place to write something like this, but there isnt much other choices so.,, ill understand if u ignore this hsjsk,, but i just wanted to share the huge appreciation i have for all of your work and the fact u didn’t give up even after everything you’ve went through. it’s been really hard for me lately because i trusted people i shouldn’t have and ended up losing everyone and everything i cared about. it got to me so terribly i tried to take my life from the constant panic attacks i would have. i had nobody, so i tried to find something that could bring joy in my life again yet failed multiple times. i really convinced myself there will never be anything that’d make me feel happy again and that it all was pointless. i stumbled across your game just a few months ago when i was scrolling through tik tok and after playing both parts of btd and tpof i got so immersed into the plot and characters that i swear i felt alive again. i got especially attracted to ren if being honest haha,,, for some reason i even saw myself in him because of the fact that he loved someone who never really loved him at all and only abused him. i mean hshajakj i know that he isn’t such an innocent character either, but his backstory and his way of thinking is what made it hit so close to home. i used to be this way too when i was a kid and lived in an abusive household, and truly believed that they care about me no matter how much they hurt me.
btd was the first thing in years that made me feel something. i found out that ur remaking the first game and i swore that no matter what happens i wont do anything bad to myself just so i could witness the release of ykmet and be able to play it. even if its not free, ill save up my money just so i could buy it then!! im already saving up so i could get a subscription on your patreon and it still wouldnt be enough to show how grateful i am. i missed that feeling so much, i missed having something to live for. i spend my last night drawing a bunch of ren sketches and even making an animation w him, it was really fun!! i look at him and he just makes me so happy u have no idea haha <3 all of that made me realize how much of an impact your games made on my life, even though u dont know me at all. i found out about your story and how you went through an awful betrayal from your close people a few years ago and it made me want to just say thank you. gato, you’re such a strong and wonderful person and i hope u know how much your hard work means to some people. a few months ago i was a terribly ruined 18 year old girl that wanted to leave this world so badly and things wouldn't have changed if it wasnt for you. i really wish i could talk to you at least for some time, though i understand that you probably wouldn’t want to and thats okay. i’m looking up to u a lot and i hope one day i’ll finally get better. u didn’t give up, so i won’t either!! ₍ᐢ. ̫.ᐢ₎

I know exactly what it feels like to have too many things go wrong, and to believe to your core that things will keep going wrong- that all there is in the future is pain.
When the thought of killing myself was the only thing that made me feel better, I talked to people. I told the few people I trusted and I sought out a therapist as well. It didn't instantly fix everything of course but it showed me the path to recovery and helped me believe in a future where things are better.
I'm so glad you've talked to me today! You took a chance on communicating with someone and that's EXACTLY the right thing to do. Please keep taking chances. Go places with people, attend events- I know that taking chances after being hurt so badly is extremely hard, but if you keep checking the shore, you never know what the tide may bring in.
One last thing too- be your own friend if you can. For me, this took a lot of work and practice. I used to be abusive to myself in my own head. My therapist taught me to argue with myself in my head and challenge every mean thought. It was exhausting. But it gets easier if you keep doing it. Once you treat yourself like a friend, it's not so scary to be alone. Behind closed doors you can find love instead of fear.

um olá gatobob :) Joguei os três jogos BTD 1 e BTD 2 claro TPOF, sou brasileiro e desculpem se minha escrita estiver ruim estou usando um tradutor haha. Bom eu queria dar minha opinião sobre o jogo BTD 1 e no começo fiquei bem desconfortável e tenso com a narrativa do jogo, mas como um amante de terror fiquei simplesmente impressionado e admirado pelo seu trabalho :D as artes da rota strade são muito bonitas e interessantes, as mecânicas de jogo como sanity e life eram muito revolucionárias para as visual novels naquela época. minha rota favorita é strade e sano porque elas são as mais fodas e violentas, o objetivo do jogo é causar desconforto e agonia no jogador! Tenho que dizer que o papel é cumprido :) minha nota é 9/10 Agora minha opinião sobre BTD 2, achei as outras rotas fracas na narrativa mas a rota de Ren e Lawrence é a mais incrível e bem escrita. Na rota do Ren ele é muito chato e irritante com essa conversa de "vou ser o Strade 2.0" os finais são interessantes e as cenas de violência me deram tensão, outra coisa que eu amei na rota onde o jogador pode torturar o Ren! caramba foi ótimo. A rota do Lawrence foi incrível e muito bem escrita eu tenho que te dar esse crédito :) a personalidade e o ambiente da rota dele são diferentes, o lago é misterioso e muito macabro mas ajuda com a história do BTD? Minha nota para esse jogo é 7/10 por último TPOF, esse jogo é incrível em termos de terror e desconforto! as artes e ângulos são lindos e perfeitos😍 as novas mecânicas são melhoradas e boas. Na minha opinião, a rota do Derek é cheia de adrenalina e ação:) ele está muito bonito nos ângulos de arte e eu gosto da narrativa e do ambiente de sobrevivência no meio do deserto, a história principal me fez chorar:( A rota da Celia é bem escrita, o ambiente trancando naquele lugar abandonado dá uma atmosfera opressiva e desconhecida, também gostei que pode ter a rota secreta do Ren haha e a narrativa da rota da Celia é simples mas funciona muito bem! A rota do Manson é tensa, o ambiente da floresta junto com os sons dão vida ao suspense. Essa vibe de caçador e presa funciona na narrativa dessa rota! agora a rota mais nojenta e ótima do terror a DLC fox. Fazia tempo que não sentia nojo, agonia e desconforto extremo nessa rota! as descrições da tortura são bem descritivas......a cena do olho era podre e nojenta :/ mas eu estava imersa nessa narrativa dos programas macabros da Fox e seu público doente nas telas. o ambiente da sala escura com as telas brancas são perfeitos para o terror

hi gato! i'm really invested in your games so much but i do wonder what time the game takes place since in btd2 ren was 21 and i'm assuming it was back in the early 2000s but in the price of flesh he was around in his 40s so i'm just really curious about when the price of flesh took place.

im having issues with opening on mac, when i open the application it just pops up on the bottom bar for a bit then goes away and i cant play it :( any tips??
To open a Renpy Game on mac, you may need to do some extra steps. If the issue is mac refusing to open an unsigned program, then follow these steps: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/mac-help/mh40616/mac
On top of that, your game must be placed in the applications folder. Applications that are not in the applications folder may not run.

Lots of stuff in the old BTD games will be changed to fit my narratives better in YKMET as well. I know 'retcon' isn't the most popular thing but my personal motto is that 'improvement is better than consistency' haha!

I don't really want to hammer out any details of my work. To me, the joy in art is every unique interpretation creating something new. I think it should be a joint process between artist and viewer where both contribute imagination.
Accuracy means very little to me and I am comfortable with my characters being interpreted in any way that gives people joy.

It won't delve much into the TPOF stuff, and it won't involve Lawrence at all. It's more like just an expanded version of Strade's original route. Ren does get more screentime in it though :)
If everything goes well with this game, Lawrence will get his own game next!

Yes, I plan to put up the new game on Steam :) I don't really plan for an 'early access' phase though. I prefer the old fashioned way of going through proper beta testing in semi-private and then releasing a complete game. I remember playing BTD/BTD2 and I was always fond of Ren. I was excited to find you are still making games! Cant wait to start playing this one!
I could not really stomach the other games from this developer but Price of Flesh reminds me more of a survival horror and the different routes are entertainingly different. It is one of the few games that I played through a lot of times to get all endings (not all achievements though) and I definitely recommend it to people that like survival horror and can cope with the trigger warnings.

I love him so much istg. and all that aside I genuinely didn't expect him to do a major 360 like that. I love his character, he's so well designed and well written!!! Even tho he did something fucked up, ain't gonna stop me from lovin his character. From BTD1 I saw him and immediately loved his character, then I was super overjoyed when I heard he had his own route in BTD2 then he returns in TPOF with his own route again!! My excitement-energy was so much that it almost created another sun. Ren is so real and so me I LOVE HIM!!!

I love this game so much however My game crashes a lot even though I have plenty of space (I have an updated device) ;-; it took forever to get the dlc but now anytime i do a full route and save and close my game for the day and go back to check my photos from ren (like his bunker and stuff) they're gone so I have to keep replying it and it continues to crash 😭

HELP i can't play the DLC. Like i have the little fox taking his hat off on the collections screen, and i have the option to point the annoncer but after their is nothing like "beg him" or something like that. I have done the achievement CONTROL but idk i still can't go with the annoncer :(

As long as you have the latest version of the game, you can access it by getting the 'CONTROL' achievement. To do that, you have to find the hidden note in Celia's desk- still a bit of a challenge because you won't see it unless you're drunk enough. You'll lose your sanity trying to get drunk enough if you don't have some ginger ale as well.
Is 1.2.8 the latest version because it's the one I have and I've tried that soo many times do you know how drunk I have to be or if I need to wait to a certain time like after she gives me the sandwich or does it not matter because I feel like I've tried everything😢
1.2.8 is the latest one, yep! You can probably find a guide to follow if you look up how to get the Control achievement that will tell you how to do it step by step. You need to drink like 5 times or so, it's only possible when she's gone for a long time. You'll know you have the achievement if there's a little animated Fox taking his hat off on the collections screen. Once you have it, you can just start a new game and there will be a new option to go with him at the auction.

do you know where the save files are located for a non-steam version of the game?, I'm having an issue where achievements from other versions are getting unlocked as soon as I open the game on steam and I wanted to start from scratch
They should be in something like [ %APPDATA%/RenPy/save_directory ] for windows or [ ~/Library/RenPy/save_directory ] for mac.
Save files are different from persistent data though. I think they're held in the same place, but persistent data is what hold achievement and overall game progress.
One way to get rid of them for sure would be to duplicate and back up your whole game folder, then go into the actual game and use the big red 'delete all progress' button on the collections page. That button wipes out all save files and persistent data so you can start from scratch.
Finally figured it out, very hard to find when it was under the the name The Hunt, I'm guessing an old name or something because that was the only file that appeared after I launched the game, deleted that whole folder, and everything in the saves for the steam version and used an achievement locker for steam and it all finally worked
when i downloaded the file on my windows it showed the right file of which i needed for my apple computer; '.app' file. When i downloaded it onto my apple computer it says i dont have the right file. Which is fine since i am able to play on windows, i was just wondering why it doesn't show for my apple computer. It may just very well be my own computer, Im not sure.
